Earlier, life was as smooth as riding on a new road for some and as busy as skipping meals for others before this pandemic COVID-19 shook the entire world at once. Since when The 21 Days Lockdown was announced by PM Narendra Modi last month to give nationwide effect in India from 24th March 2020, from then on, Life is as stuck as road traffic jam wherein we can only wait for the clear track to go. I know we all experienced last 3 weeks in a way we have never done before ever since we are conscious. It may be, somehow, said to be the solitary confinement. But the lockdown is truly meant to keep us healthy and also to prevent the risk of the contagion by those who have come under the attack of this acute virus.

Even after the frightening results of COVID-19 coming from all over the world, when a large number of death counts had started to come to light and showed how calamitous this virus could be, we weren’t probably intending to take it sternly even until then. Knowing the fact that people would come out of their home, the lockdown 21 LOCKdownwas the much-needed measure which was taken by the government soon after it was declared a “Pandemic”. As we were already battling with our inadequate medical services and growing patients rapidly, we were certainly not ready for a complete unknown epidemic and it was quite challenging to triumph over the same. Hence, I believe that only a lockdown could be the best strategic move no matter what sigil or symbol of government would be in reign, if not BJP. (let’s not do politics here.)

A need for action

Notwithstanding how good or bad position we have been into, surprisingly the lockdown seems to have been followed with utmost dedication and caution by the people. A big step for abruptly shutting down everything countrywide relaxed the outspread of COVID-19 a bit. Though, in the last few days, something unanticipated took place in the capital. The decision did not look as instinctive but decisive altogether. Therefore, we have found much lesser active COVID-19 patients than other countries despite us being the second largest population in the world. Especially the USA, who is believed to have one of the finest medical services and administrations amongst the countries yet appeared to have failed to fight against the Pandemic.

We ran into some unforeseen circumstances in various states during the lockdown period but the govt. took charge of the same as well. The major problem which the government had to come up against was the people’s migration from one state to another. It was reported that the majority of them belonged to the labour class and since they were daily wage workers, they were abandoned with no income for living their lives. Both the state as well as the central government are progressively working to provide meals to them, taking steps such as tracking the infected patients to prevent community spread, putting temporarily pause on deducting EMIs and so on until the next steps.

Major Behavioral Changes

During this period of 21 days, a lot of things have changed. People can be seen to have embraced the old fashioned lifestyle. Families have turned to sit together, watching flicks; talking for longer hours now and even amicably trying to settle personal animosity. Now they go to their terrace, practice yoga, play indoor games, learn skills online and do much more and of course, TikTok, which is the most entertaining social media platform these days available to many of us, for doing crazy things on that and making people laugh. If this is the real living, then we can say that leisure is the only treasure.

Jokes apart, COVID-19 has not only aggravated things but has also invigorated the humans. We are more alert about sanitation now, aren’t we?  Now, we are more eager and driven to excel into our respective area. We do think about nature and try not to make any embellishment against its ordinary course. We are more health-conscious now and in the back of our mind, we think twice about the consequences before eating anything we like, as opposed to what happens in china.

A Fresh start

As the lockdown is potentially coming to an end, though not exclusively as it may still be extended and remain operative in certain areas or states, we have to be prepared whether or not it is resumed and just a few necessary steps such as wearing the mask, not to spit, cover when sneezing or coughing as already referred to, needs to be followed so as to prevent the risk of endangering anyone’s life and that’s all. As we came together on PM Narendra Modi addressing over the concern twice, and the nation showed its unity, be it to light a candle or clap together,  each one of us is expected to be abided by the government’s directions against coming predicaments in our way. We should all thank the whole team of our doctors and their support staffs who pulled their socks up and worked strenuously.

Now, let’s just hope to have better days ahead and contribute to the prevention of COVID-19 at a large scale by following the small steps as mentioned above until its vaccination is devised. There is a lot more which could have been covered in this article. There exists much more of good and bad or maybe worse in real but it’s always better to practice the tendency to be optimistic.

I don't consider myself as a voracious reader or bibliophile but reading and writing have always been a part of my life ab initio. Ever since I am into the legal profession, the ocean of cases has widened the scope of reading which has changed my view to see things differently. I also love to play sports. Playing guitar is one of those activities which I usually lay my hands on when not doing my work.
