Todd Miller, professor of nutrition and exercise sciences at George Washington University says “No, it doesn’t work that way”, “fat in your body is like gas in your gas tank. Thinking you can reduce fat from your stomach alone is like saying you want to use gas only from the right side of your gas tank, which is impossible”.

In other words, a person cannot reduce the fat from a particular part of your body like belly fat or fat deposited on thighs, etc. A person can only
reduce fat in terms of overall body fat percentage.

Crunches and Planks Do Not Make Abdominal Muscles Visible –

While doing crunches, planks and other core exercises may strengthen and shape your abdominal muscles, but they’ll not make your abs visible until and unless your body fat levels remain high. Relying on abs exercises alone will not cut the cake for you.

This dual approach is the best path to take in our quest for a chiseled six-pack. Take note that in order to shed body fat, we need to be on a calorie deficit on a regular basis. This simply means that the energy we expend should be more than the calories that we take in. If we exercise regularly but still imbibe more calories than needed, we fail to lose fat and stray from our goal of having abs.

Having a shredded six-pack is as much about working out as it is about eating the proper amounts of food in their correct macronutrient proportions. Exercise and eat right with equal effort for satisfactory results.

In other words, you just have to choose wisely what to eat or what not eat for having chiseled six-pack abs.

Generally, at 15% body fat, the upper two abs would be visible but not the bottom ones. Push it little hard and trim about three or four more percentage and you have your six-pack visible.
With body fat percentage 6-13%, you will definitely have a six-pack along with being totally ripped but it’s not necessary that your lifestyle will be healthier or not.

How long does it take to get six-pack abs?

According to many kinds of research, it could take a woman with average body fat about 20-26 months to achieve the appropriate amount of fat loss for six-pack abs.

The average man would need about 15-21 months of time to achieve his chiseled six-pack abs.

Is it good to train abs every day?

Too often people work their abs every day without rest, hoping to burn the fat off with more exercise. Try dynamic moves that focus on core strength and that involve your stabilizer muscles.

The muscles you use all day long to hold your body in place. Working out your abs daily is not good for your abdominal muscles and your body either.

There’s a pretty common saying that goes something like this, “Everyone has a six-pack, for most of us it’s just covered up, Its absolutely true.
A six-pack is simply your abdominal muscles (rectus abdominus) below a layer of skin and body fat. So, just burn your body fat by eating the right food and train your abdominal muscles to have chiseled six-pack abs.

Are abs healthy?

Six pack abs are tempting but not healthy. Unfortunately, those aspiring to get that perfect body do not realize that it is very difficult to achieve and then maintain it, that kind of an impossibly sculpted look. That is a kind of unnatural body-fat percentage can lead to many health issues.

So, you cannot have six-pack abs just by doing workout or by doing crunches. You just have to eat right, have proper workout routine including cardio, HIIT, weight training, and also you have to focus on good sleep, at least 7-8 hrs. Do not think that abs are healthy, they are just a result of low body fat percentage. Six pack abs are nothing more than an aesthetic look which is just tempting for some people, it’s actually not a part of a healthy lifestyle because it requires an enormous amount of low body fat. Having six-pack abs doesn’t mean your core is strong, it’s just a sign of low body fat and having low body fat will definitely decrease your strength. So, until and unless you are not a professional athlete, you better avoid having six-pack abs.
